Telling a Story

Image
I am sitting here watching the fifth episode of the documentary show, "The Chair." If you haven't heard of this amazing show yet, you should definitely tune in. It airs Saturdays at 11PM on Starz.     "The Chair" is about a competition between two different directors each making their directing debut from the same script. However, they are allowed to add changes to the script to express what they are wanting their film to bring to the audience. Each director and their team film for 4 weeks in Pittsburgh, PA. While filming their version of the script, they are simultaneously being documented on camera about their experience. This show is an AMAZING look into how films, especially independent films, are made. You get a backstage pass to see what all goes into a movie and how everyone needs to work together. There is a lot that goes into making a movie and there are many people working, not just in front of the camera, but behind it as well. This series shows all

Road Warriors

I'm in the car right now with my husband and youngest daughter Eden. We are driving back home with Miranda Lambert playing on the radio. It has almost been a week now since we left Ohio for Vermont. It was beautiful, but we arrived past their "peak" season so the trees weren't as bright and colorful as they would have been a couple weeks ago.                     The weather was chilly 40s to 50s and dropped down to the 30s at night. We walked up and down Church Street as usual. Passing many different restaurants, shops and musicians playing outside.       While Dave was at work during the day, Eden and I walked down to Lake Champlain, went to a hair salon, shopped and just enjoyed the day. At five o'clock we would meet up with Dave for dinner on Church Street.             Dave and I never meet a stranger, at almost every restaurant we got to meet some locals. We spent a couple nights around a fire outside of our hotel, met some

Swisher Sweeties in Frankenmuth, MI

Image
After coming home from a long work weekend, and being curled up on the couch watching TV with my husband and youngest daughter, I realized I haven't been keeping up much with my blog. We have all been extremely busy lately. Thursday morning, I left for my Swisher promotional job and headed to Detroit. The hotel was gorgeous! In the restaurant area they had a live jazz band and extremely tasty food. I enjoyed sitting and listening to them for a couple hours.  The next morning, I headed towards Frankenmuth, MI where the Country Fest would be going on for the next couple of days. The environment was so much fun. Live bands, cowboys and cowgirls for 6/7 hours a day with the other Swisher girls. We had a blast. Saturday, since we didn't have to be at work until 6,  the three of us girls got to explore Frankenmuth a little. Even though it was very chilly out, we wandered around cute shops and restaurants. The Fall season was definitely in the air.    We wo

Health, Flowers and Motorcycles

Well, it has been awhile since I have written. It has been a hard couple of months, with all of April pretty much being bedridden with health issues. Luckily, I am seeing a new doctor now and hope to be on the mend and back to my normal life soon. I definitely was being over medicated and it was making me lethargic,  being constantly lightheaded,  feeling of fainting, among many many other things. This went on for almost a month after going to the ER. I couldn't even operate a vehicle. I came in with some symptoms, and the medications just caused NEW problems to the extreme. It was scary. Almost makes me want to go holistic. Sometimes meds mixed with other meds is just a disaster waiting to happen. Course, everyone reacts to medications differently. But, I trust that my NEW doctor has a new and better approach. Since I've been bedridden for several weeks, it will definitely take some time to get my muscle strength back. LOL I actually got sore from walking around outside a

Train Like a Beast, Look Like a Beauty

Flashback to my high school years and I was running on average six miles a day, five or six days a week, as well as lifting. Good ole cross-country! To say the least, I haven't really kept up with that regimen. I have been randomly working out or going on little spurts of daily exercise over the years, but never really fully dedicated myself to training. Just recently, one of my best friends and I started working out everyday before the sun even comes up. It was extremely hard to get out of bed that early, especially since I am NOT a morning person at all. But we are now on our third week of working out and it feels so great! I hope I can keep this momentum going and just feel healthier all around.       Sometimes all you need to push yourself that extra mile is the perfect workout song. When I was in cross-country, I remember always listening to fast paced and sometimes even outright angry music to get pumped up before the race. Currently my favorite workout songs are:

Take Your Mind on a Vacation

A friend of mine and I were chatting it up on the black leather couch in my home. With the television on in the background and Starbucks coffee in our hands, we talked about life and how stressful it can be. She then mentioned to me a website that her mother shared with her; Mindbloom. Mindbloom is a website to help you relax, be inspired and enjoy the little things in life. There is also an app for this website, called Bloom. Bloom will remind you throughout the day to say "Take a moment and be thankful for what's in your life" or "Go get a refreshing glass of water" along with soothing images and music. I have fallen in love with this website and thank my friend, Rachel, for sharing it with me! In a hectic and busy world, it is nice to take a moment to just breathe.
